The key to effective environmental management is quick response to issues and concerns that pose a threat to the environment. For those in the business of environmental control and regulation, a good communication system is essential for the following purposes:
- gathering and synthesizing information on the environmental situation from the various sectors.
- disseminating immediate or urgent message to the public about environmental concerns directly affecting the people.
- clarifying regulatory policies and rules for better compliance.
Thus, we see the critical role of the new information technology in developing a good communication system for our environmental work in the Environmental Management Bureau. The "Homepage" as an application of the new information technology will facilitate a quick response mechanism between the Bureau and its target sectors, as well as with the other units/offices of the DENR.
